On December 2, the ESA held a bake sale to raise funds for various World Visionprojects. Thanks to the generosity of students, staff, and faculty, the ESA raised$300.00 in just a few hours. Through the World Vision Gift Guide, the moneywas allocated as follows: $250.00 was used to purchase school supplies for fiveclassrooms in developing countries. Because many of the supplies are donated byNorth American companies, this donation multiplies fifteen times, which meansthat the $250.00 donation provides $3,750.00 worth of supplies! Supplies include:books, pencils, paper, notebooks, rulers, and art materials. In certain regions of theworld children are unable to attend school because their parents cannot afford therequisite supplies; this gift opens the door to education for many such children. Theremaining $50.00 was used to purchase two hens and a rooster, which together canyield up to 150 eggs and a new flock of chicks each year. This gift is both a sourceof nutrition and income for a family. The canned food drive “competition” was alsoa success. Although it was very close, it seems that the Middle/Secondary teachercandidates were slightly more generous than their Elementary counterparts!Thanks so much to everyone who participated: to those brought in canned goods, tothose who baked, and to those who had the arduous task of eating all that baking!
